Casino brag is to three card brag what casino poker is to Texas Holdem. You don’t play casino brag against other players, your battle is against the house in a similar format to a game of blackjack. The aim of the game is to get a better hand than the dealer. However, you can also win bonus prizes for being dealt pairs, prials, runs and running flushes. Three Card Brag Side Bets

When playing three card brag, many players opt to include a side bet in their game. Three card brag side bets are additional antes or buy-ins that are added to a separate pot and paid out when a certain hand is dealt or another playing condition is met. Side bets add an extra dimension to the game and can offer new tactics of play as well.

One brag side bet that is often used is 2-2-?. Any player that manages to win a hand while holding a pair of two’s and a spare card walks away with the side bet pot. However, many players decide on a different condition for winning the side bet each time they come together to play, before they shuffle up and deal the cards.

Three Card Brag Wild Cards

Over the past six months or so there has been somewhat of an online three card brag explosion, with various sites now offering you the opportunity to play cash tables and tournaments as you would at an online poker site, but this does confine your playing to the rules of the site. This means that you are unable to play three card brag wild cards and other rule and game variations online.

Wild cards, or floaters as they’re sometimes called, are predetermined cards of a certain value that can be used as a substitute to complete a hand. For example, if twos are the chosen wild cards and you are dealt 3, 3, 2 you would be able to play it as a prial of threes, using the two as a substitute for the final missing three. Brag Game Variants

Three card brag is a traditional British card game with roots that date back to the 16th century and like any good card game three card brag has developed spin-off games. There are many brag game variants, some more popular than others, some played for money and some that aren’t.

The rules of these many brag games vary from game to game. Some of these games use as few as four cards per player (just one more than the original three card brag game) and some use as many as fifteen cards per player. The name of most of these brag variants is a good indicator of the number of cards each player is dealt.

Teen Patti Is Brag’s Asian Half-Brother

If three card brag is a traditional British card game then Teen Patti is brag’s Asian half-brother. Teen Patti is a gambling card game that bares a tremendous similarity to three card brag. These similarities can almost certainly be accredited to the march of the British Empire that colonised much of the Indian subcontinent, leaving behind many British traditions including playing cards and card games.

Teen Patti has many similarities to three card brag such as a prial, or a ‘trial’ as it’s known in Teen Patti, being the strongest hand and betting similarities like antes, calling and raising. Players also have the option to play blind during a game of Teen Patti as they would in a game of three card brag.

Casino Brag

If you’re a regular at the local casino you may be familiar with casino brag. Casino brag is found in many UK casinos up and down the country and is very similar to the 3 card brag game found at William Hill Vegas.
